Solves crashing issue in Polish edition of Word, more
Microsoft on Wednesday updated its flagship Mac program, Office for Mac - bringing the current version to 14.3.9. The update fixes numerous bugs in Outlook and Word, including a crashing issue that would happen when starting up the Polish version of Word for Mac 2011 under OS X 10.9 Mavericks. The fixes not only apply the desktop version of Office 2011, but also on-premises versions of Microsoft Exchange Server (2007, 2010 and 2013 Cumulative Update 3) and MS Exchange Online in Office 365.
The new version, which requires that users be running Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 Service Pack 1 (ie version 14.1.0 or later) on OS X 10.5.8 or later, includes functionality that defaults newly configured Yahoo! Mail accounts to IMAP instead of to POP. This update also includes functionality that defaults newly-configured Outlook.com accounts to IMAP instead of to POP.
The update also fixes an issue that causes read receipts to always be sent after users read a message that requests a read receipt. Users now have the option of deciding whether to send a read receipt by default or not, and will remember the preference to "Always Send" or "Never Send." It also improves conversation threading in Outlook, and now includes functionality that uses the In-Reply-To and Reference fields in mail headers to improve conversation threading for the display of conversation views.
It also fixes an issue that caused Outlook for Mac not to connect to Exchange when Outlook was using certain proxy servers. Finally, Word for Mac functionality has also been improved, including the resolution of the Polish edition crash issue. The updated version is available through Office's own update mechanism or directly from the MS support website.
