Porsche Design ships redesigned BlackBerry Z10 as P'9982

updated 12:43 pm EST, Tue November 19, 2013

Stainless steel and leather casing covers relatively unchanged Z10

Porsche Design has put its rumored BlackBerry smartphone on sale in the United Kingdom, one aimed at mobile phone users looking for a premium and rare device. Just like the BlackBerry P'9981, the P'9982 is available to purchase through London's Harrods department store at a price of £1,500 ($2,400) off-contract.

The P'9982 is effectively a BlackBerry Z10, and it retains the same 4.2-inch 1,280x768 display, dual-core 1.5GHz processor, and 2GB of RAM as the original, though the storage has been expanded to 64GB. Running on BlackBerry OS 10.2, it has a rear 8-megapixel BSI autofocus camera, a front-facing 2-megapixel version, an 1,800mAh battery, and LTE connectivity. The external casing is stainless steel with an Italian leather back door, and the device is also supplied with a unique BlackBerry Messenger PIN.

Though Harrods will reportedly have just 500 of the P'9982 available to buy now, there will be more of the device available in the future. Selfridges and Carphone Warehouse will also stock the device in the future, as will Porsche Design stores and a number of carriers around the world from November 21st.
