Claims to be up to 23 times faster
Infinit has launched a public Mac beta of its self-named file transfer app. Unlike some other file transfer methods, Infinit is based on a peer-to-peer system, which is claimed to be up to 23 times faster than the alternatives. To start an upload users drag a file into the app, type in the name of another Infinit user, and click Send.
Transfers are encrypted, and automatically pause and resume when a computer is turned off and on. When receiving media, files can be played right away without having to wait for completion. The Mac beta is a free download; Windows and Linux clients are promised later this month.
