Nokia could push Music streaming service to iOS, Android in future

updated 06:17 am EST, Mon November 18, 2013

Leaked images claim Android, iOS platform support on the way

Nokia Music could be heading to the iPhone in the future, according to an allegedly leaked graphic. The app, which currently provides streaming music to Nokia Lumia and Asha smartphones as well as through Windows 8, 8.1, and RT devices, may end up on both iOS and Android devices as Nokia expands the reach of the service.

The images spotted on Sina Weibo by CTechCN shows Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, and Android under a heading of "Platform Support." It is thought that the Android and iOS versions will be web apps rather than a native application, such as the Windows desktop and Windows Phone versions.

If true, this is one way that Nokia could recoup some of its investment in the service. While Google Play Music recently reached iOS with its own app, Nokia could benefit by undercutting Google's $10 streaming music monthly subscription with its own existing $4 Nokia Music+ offering.
