Google Play Music app for iOS hit by launch bugs, fix in the works

Google Play Music app launch marred by streaming glitches

Although it has arrived six months after the launch of the Android version, the Google Play music app for iOS has launched with a bug that stops users from being able to download music for offline listening. A number of user reviews on the iTunes App Store are reporting the issue, while MacNN has confirmed that Google is aware of the problem and is working on a fix. Google Play Music, allows subscribers to download entire albums for offline listening, or stream ad supported music for free, and is a direct competitor to Apple's own iTunes Radio streaming music service.

A statement from a Google Play tech support staff member reads:

Currently, we are aware of an issue with connecting to Google Play. We are working on fixing this issue and I want to thank you for your patience while we fix this issue.

Some Google Play Music for iOS users are still able to stream music, while others are getting an error message stating "Error while trying to stream music." It is not known if non-subscribers are also experiencing the same issue. Non-subscribers can listen up to 20,000 of their own tracks that can be uploaded to Google's servers and turned into free radio stations using algorithms to create new and fresh mixes. For $10 per month, users can have full access to Google's 20 million strong library of 320kbps MP3 audio tracks, which includes the ability download entire albums. Currently, iOS users are unable to purchase tracks through Google Play Music for iOS.
