Moto X reaches Republic Wireless, other carriers lower initial cost

updated 06:16 am EST, Fri November 15, 2013

Price of Moto X lowered on carriers after Moto G launch

Following the launch of the low-cost Moto G, a number of carriers in the United States have started to lower their prices for the Moto X. While Republic Wireless offers the device off-contract, versions as part of a two-year commitment have received price cuts, with one offer seemingly being priced at $0.01.

The unlocked and off-contract version of the Moto X can be found for under $600, depending on the retailer and the model. Republic Wireless has started selling selling the 16GB version of the device for $299 without a contract, with the carrier offering price plans of between $5 per month for a Wi-Fi-only plan, and $40 for an unlimited text, talk, and LTE version that uses Sprint's network.

In the more mainstream networks, Moto X pricing on-contract is also getting intense. According to Unwired View, Verizon is offering $50 off the $100 price when an order is placed through Moto Maker until the 18th of November, bringing it down to $50. Though this is an attractive offer from Verizon, it is noted that there are other offers elsewhere. AT&T also brings the price down to $50 when it is bought through Amazon, with a version on Sprint being spotted as low as $0.01 when bought on a two-year commitment.
