Moto X could have global launch in future, hints Motorola executive

updated 01:12 pm EST, Thu November 14, 2013

Moto X could head to Europe in future, after Moto G

The Moto X could potentially head to markets further afield than the United States, after an executive reportedly hinted at a possible launch in the future. The suggestion comes shortly after the company unveiled the Moto G, a cheaper version of the handset that is enjoying a global launch for areas other than the United States over the next few weeks.

Marcus Frost, the senior marketing director at Motorola for the EMEA region, told TechRadar that there is still a chance the smartphone will go further afield. "The reception of Moto X has been fantastic and we're continuously pursuing opportunities in the EMEA region, so really watch this space," said Frost. Vice president for EMEA Magnus Ahlqvist also chimed in, adding "We are serious about Europe and we want to bring strong propositions to the market," though this is possibly just in reference to the Moto G.

While a possible launch of the Moto X for the rest of the world may be influenced by how well the Moto G fares, the cut-price smartphone will still head to the United States, in January.
