New HP Chromebook 11 yanked from Best Buy retail, online

Reports claim HP and Google are behind stop, not Best Buy corporate

Retailer Best Buy has pulled HP's new Chromebook 11 from sale both online and in storefronts. Critical-level messaging has been sent to retail stores, stating that stores "should stop selling the HP Chromebook 11 effective immediately." Information has surfaced that the suspension is related to AC adapters overheating while charging the laptop.

The Google and HP joint-effort Chromebook was announced a month ago, with the hardware greeted by middling to poor reviews. Sources with inside knowledge have confirmed to The Verge that the sales stop was ordered by Google and HP themselves.

Electronista spoke with a local Best Buy store manager who told us that they have "about a hundred of them sitting in the back now. We were even told to completely disassemble the sales staging for it." She added that "we sold a bunch the first week, but only about one a week since then."
