EFI update fixes keyboard issues
Apple on Thursday released a software update to address an issue that made keyboards and trackpads unresponsive on its newest Retina MacBook Pros. The update, available through Apple's Support Pages, is recommended for 13-inch, late-2013 MacBook Pros with Retina Displays. Prior to the update, the only way to address the issue was to perform a hard reset on a device.
The update - EFI Update v1.3 - is 4.64MB in size. It is recommended for the aforementioned Retina MacBook Pro, and it requires that the device be running Mac OS X 10.9.
The issue showed up roughly two weeks ago, with users on Apple's support forums complaining of unresponsive keyboards and trackpads. Reportedly, the issue affects every size and configuration of the Pro. Apple promised a prompt solution to the problem, and today's update appears to mark the beginning of the fulfillment of that promise.
