updated 10:15 am EST, Wed November 6, 2013

Three-port USB 3.0 docking station provides charging, networking

Kanex has released its latest product, SimpleDock: a USB 3.0 docking station for MacBook. Its ports include accommodations for USB devices, iPhone, MacBook, as well as an Ethernet cable -- providing a straightforward organization system. The front of the docking station has a cradle to hold an iPhone of iPad while it charges. Encased in zinc alloy material, the SimpleDock's aesthetic matches that of a MacBook. Though not yet available for purchase online, Kanex's SimpleDock will be priced at $120.

Updated PlainText offers iOS 7 styling, extended keyboard, sync fixes

Hog Bay Software's PlainText has received an update for iOS 7. Intended to be a simple text editor, PlainText saves to DropBox and iCloud for easy remote access to documents. Version 2.0 has revamped its style, creating a minimalist appearance. The interface aims to be more physical in nature, with a sliding motion revealing a keyboard drawer underneath the document view. Also included in the latest version is a new sharing panel, support for dynamic font sizes, and syncing fixes for cloud storage saving. Available on iTunes, PlainText 2.0 is free to download.
