Android website leaks potential 8-inch Nexus tablet in image

Possible Nexus 8 sighting echoes Nexus 5 leaks

Google may be planning to offer a larger Nexus tablet to users, if a new rumor is to be believed. An image on the Android website shows an unnamed phablet or tablet being used, one which is thought to have an eight-inch display, with the leak being a somewhat similar story to that of the Nexus 5 mistakenly appearing in other Android promotional materials before its launch.

Spotted by Britoid on the forums of The Verge, the device appears to be a bigger tablet than the Nexus 7, yet smaller than the Nexus 10, along with relatively thin bezels on all sides. Aside from running Android KitKat, there is little else the image tells of the device.

While it is possible that the image is mocked up just for the Android website, this is unlikely. Ars Technica notes that Google has never used a "fake" or generic device in any marketing in the past, and though the tablet being used could be an unidentified tablet already on the market, it is not likely that Google will advertise a hardware competitor in such a way.
