Android 4.4 apps from Nexus 5 factory image leaked

Google Experience Launcher, core apps made available to download

A number of featured apps from Android KitKat have been made available to download. The apps, pulled from Google's factory image of Android 4.4 for the Nexus 5, include some that could be considered minor updates when compared to earlier versions, while others are more notable, including the new Google Search.

The new Google Home launcher, otherwise known as the Google Experience Launcher, requires three separate apps in order to function: Google Play Services 4.0, Google Search, and the Google Home .apk, according to Phandroid. Other apps that have been singled out include the new Calendar, Clock, e-mail app, Camera, and Hangouts.

While the apps will work in a number of cases, Droid-Life advises caution, as they are unreleased apps meant for the Nexus 5, and though they apparently worked on a Nexus 4 running stock Android 4.3, there may be issues running them on tweaked versions of Android from phone manufacturers.
