iPad Air stocks begin to dwindle in many countries

updated 01:42 pm EDT, Fri November 1, 2013

64, 128GB cellular models most heavily impacted

Within less than a day after launch, iPad Air stocks are already beginning to run low in a variety of countries, reports observe. Shortages at Apple's online and retail stores so far appear to be affecting 64 and 128GB models the most, particularly their cellular versions. The run on cellular units is also hurting 16 and 32GB models to a lesser extent.

US online deliveries are still generally scheduled to ship by November 4th, except for the 128GB space gray T-Mobile model; at many stores in the country, Personal Pickup orders for a variety of configurations have been delayed. People who placed Pickup orders overnight were given first priority when Apple Stores opened early at 8AM.

It's funny how Apple has lines of people waiting to buy iPads and yet Android tablet shipments outnumber iPads by about a gazillion to one. Consumers around the world must be buying Android tablets by the thousands on a daily basis in order to amass such a large amount market share. Apple must be about the only company on the planet that can't ever seem to keep up with demand for their products. I wonder if Apple were to invest in or build some fully automated factories if it would help any.
