Google Glass accessory store opens, offers extra mono earbuds

High Glass accessory prices likely to fall on general release

Google has started to sell accessories for its Google Glass headset, in an online store visible only to current Glass owners. Though currently limited in terms of what it has on offer, the store hints at the kind of post-purchase experience owners of Google Glass will be letting themselves in for once the device sees a more-general release.

Currently, the store stocks a total of four listings, according to Marketing Land. A clear shield for Glass costs $75, while an extra cable and charger is priced at $50, the same price as a spare storage pouch. An extra mono earbud, shown in the most recent iteration of Glass hardware, costs $50. The high accessory costs are likely to drop down in price with an expanded Google Glass launch.

While the support pages for Google Glass gives instructions to swap the main frame, as well as listing other accessories, there does not appear to be a listing in the accessory store to buy alternative frames at all. This suggests that there could be the option to do so in the future.
