Motorola confirms Moto G smartphone name in website leak

Website menu confirms smartphone name after trademark filing

Motorola may be closer to launching another in the Moto line than first believed, thanks to a slip-up by Motorola itself. The Google-owned manufacturer allegedly leaked the existence of the Moto G through its website, less than a week after it was discovered that the company had applied for a trademark through the USPTO for the smartphone name.

The Motorola website showed a listing for the Moto G in its main navigation menu, beside the Moto X, according to Droid-Life. Though it appeared on the site for a brief period, no further details about the device were leaked, as the page it links to is not available to view.

Late last month, a device claimed to be a low-cost version of the Moto X was spotted at the FCC, which at the time was believed to be called the Motorola DVX. Sharing much of its appearance with the Moto X, except for a few marginal design changes, the accompanying report showed that it did not have LTE nor NFC, but also did not give much else away about the rest of its internals.
