Samsung Galaxy NX reaches FCC with AT&T LTE support

Galaxy NX mirrorless camera heads closer to US release

The Samsung Galaxy NX has been spotted passing through the FCC with support for AT&T's LTE and HSPA mobile networks. The filing strongly suggests that Samsung's Android-based mirrorless camera, one that it launched in June, will be making its way to the United States with its cellular network connection intact.

Despite an American model appearing at the FCC for testing, as spotted by Engadget, a release date for the device in the region remains unknown. It is thought that Samsung wanted to release the camera in October, and even though it has been given regulatory approval, a US launch is more likely to take place in November, if not by the end of this year.

Sporting a 20.3-megapixel APS-C sensor, the Galaxy NX has a shutter speed of down to 1/6,000th of a second, a. 8.6fps burst fire mode, an ISO range of up to 25,600, and is able to record 1080p video at 24fps and 50fps. It houses a quad-core 1.6GHz processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage with microSD expansion, and has a 4.8-inch touchscreen along with an SVGA viewfinder. Running on Android 4.2.2, it offers more than 30 smart modes for shooting, has a similar interface to the Galaxy smartphone range, and can share images over its cellular connection to social networks.

Though a price has not been revealed for the US, John Lewis in the UK is currently selling the Galaxy NX bundled with an 18-55mm lens for £1,300 ($2,090).
