New AppleCare repair warehouse opens in Pennsylvania

updated 03:59 pm EDT, Tue October 29, 2013

Facility hands repairs, shipments

Apple has opened a second US AppleCare warehouse, located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Documents show that the main complex measures just under 200,000 square feet; another 2,500 square feet is available for any office needs Apple might have. The facility will reportedly handle AppleCare repairs and replacements, including the process of shipping units to Genius Bars and individuals.

Until this week, many AppleCare repair/replacement requests were funneled through a warehouse in Elk Grove, California. The new facility should make it easier and faster for Apple to conduct repairs, particularly for product owners on the US' eastern seaboard. The company does have smaller repair centers in Texas and Memphis, but these are distant from many East Coast customers and unable to handle large volumes.
