Twitter for iOS gets inline photos, Vines, easier actions/replies

updated 04:59 pm EDT, Tue October 29, 2013

Enables tweets without text

Twitter has released a small update for its iOS client, v5.12. The new version makes two significant additions. When browsing a personal timeline, the app will now display inline previews of Vine videos, photos uploaded to Twitter, and "other select content." This makes it more practical to use only an image for a tweet; to see a photo fullscreen, users just have to tap it. If necessary previews can be disabled via Settings.

Also new are more convenient interactions. Users can now reply, retweet, favorite, or follow someone from within a tweet on the Home timeline.

Twitter for iOS is a free download and runs on any device with iOS 5 or later.
