Moto X now $99 on Moto Maker site
AT&T customers can now pick up a customized Moto X from the Moto Maker website for just $99. The Moto X still retails for $199 in AT&T stores in standard colors, but interested parties can now get a customized model for half the price, though they will have to have it delivered. Additionally, Motorola is showing off what appears to be a Moto X-exclusive augmented reality game to be launched in the coming days.
The $99 price point will net customers a 16GB Moto X on a two-year contract with AT&T. A customized 32GB model sells for $149 on contract through the site. AT&T is currently the only carrier that Moto Maker supports, though Verizon is rumored to be getting the service next month.
Sprint and US Cellular customers can also pick up a Moto X for $99. Their units, though, will not be personalized.
Motorola's YouTube account also published a teaser commercial for what appears to be an augmented reality game that will be exclusive to the company's new flagship. The description for the video simply reads: A mouse, a red hat, a windy day and a smile. This is a new kind of story. Made by Motorola and Jan Pinkava. Brought to life only on the Moto X.
The video is titled "Windy Day," though it is uncertain whether that will be the title of the game. The project is said to incorporate Pixar's real-time OpenSubdiv animation process. The game is set to launch on October 29.
