Apple TV 6.0.1 update adds iMovie Theater

updated 04:38 pm EDT, Thu October 24, 2013

Other changes undiscovered

Apple has issued a minor firmware update for the Apple TV, v6.0.1. The main addition appears to be an iMovie Theater channel, used to view videos uploaded through iMovie on other devices. Any other changes have yet to be uncovered, since Apple typically doesn't provide release notes alongside Apple TV updates.

A rumored Apple TV hardware refresh was absent during this Tuesday's iPad event. A day before, though, it was indicated that the product had been delayed. Apple is believed to be working on a new TV control scheme, which could appear in a new set-top, but might also come to a full-scale HDTV.

6.0.1 must be for some other reason because both my Apple TV units are at 6.0 and I have iMovie Theater on both & working.

I think 6.0.1 is more of a bug fix than anything else. After I'd downloaded/installed 6.0, on several occasions TV episodes would just quit arbitrarily and bring me back to the Play screen. I've only had 6.0.1 installed for a day (obviously), and have only used it a bit, so I don't know if this bug persists. Has anyone else out there had this issue?
