MacFamilyTree 7.1 released offering new web export

Synium's MacFamilyTree 7 software has received a major update, released today. Version 7.1 of the family tree creation software is optimized for OS X Mavericks, and features improved performance as well as support for Mavericks' AppNap. MacFamilyTree has also gained the ability to export websites directly from the program, which can be shared with whomever the user chooses. Chart backdrops have also been included, allowing users to add a family crest or any other image desired for their family tree chart. Based on the new Apple Maps component of OS X Mavericks, MacFamilyTree 7.1 features statistical maps that display ancestors' demographics and life data on a map visualization. Other noteworthy new inclusions are improved privacy settings, search workflow, UI and more.

Users of MacFamilyTree 7 are eligible for a free update to 7.1; all subsequent updates of MacFamilyTree 7 will be available for users for no additional cost. MacFamilyTree 7.1 is available to new users at the Mac App Store, and is currently offered at the discounted price of $30 until October 27, 2013.

Autodesk's Extension 1 for Maya LT enhances interoperability for mobile game dev

Autodesk has announced the release of its first extension for Maya LT, offering improved interoperability with Unity3D and other features for independent and mobile game development. The 3D modelling and animation tool offers a new 'send to Unity' workflow, so artists can export 3D assets with unlimited polygon counts directly into a Unity project asset folder.

Other new features include increased polygon count for exported high-resolution models or scenes, a new retopology toolset that optimizes meshing, advanced Boolean operation capacity, and more. A free 15 day trial of Autodesk Maya LT is currently available for download, and the full software can be purchased for $795, or paid in a 'pay as you go' format, starting at $50 per month from its online store. Current subscribers of Maya LT can download the new extension for free.
