Dell Android stick shows Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, MHL-capable HDMI

Dell is getting closer to shipping its Android dongle, with the device making its way through the FCC. Initially expected to be released during the summer but was delayed, Project Ophelia has now been rebranded as Wyse Cloud Connect, though it is now thought that Dell will start shipping the device either at the end of this year or early in 2014.

The Wyse Cloud Connect is meant to act as a thin client, that can be plugged into a wide range of hardware over an MHL-capable HDMI connector. The filing spotted by Engadget reports that it has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB ports for both the power supply and to connect to peripherals, and a microSD card slot.

Expected to ship for around $100, it can be used to run various Android games and apps, stream content over the Internet, and using its supplied Wyse PocketCloud, could be used to access content stored on PCs, servers, and mobile devices. Though it can have an application with home users, it is believed to find an audience in enterprise, providing businesses a simple way of supplying employees with systems that connect to the corporate network, with IT administrators able to configure the device specifically for their network.
