New units may be available immediately after Oct. 22nd event
The Apple TV is listed as out of stock or an upcoming product at Amazon's French and German websites, according to a German report. The sites mention that the product will become available again as of October 23rd. Since Apple is scheduled to hold a press event October 22nd, it's believed that the listings may back rumors that Apple is planning an imminent Apple TV refresh.
What a new Apple TV might gain is unclear, particularly since no leaks have emerged other than those hinting at a general upgrade. Likely changes include a switch to 802.11ac Wi-Fi and a faster processor. The unit might also gain support for HDMI 2.0, or even 4K video, although none of the videos sold on the iTunes Store are in 4K yet.
