updated 07:03 am EDT, Thu October 17, 2013

Acer offers free Microsoft Office for purchasers of new device

Acer today debuted the new eight-inch Iconia W4 tablet that features an IPS display and Zero Air Gap technologies for a sharper display with enhanced clarity and brightness. In addition, the Iconia W4 is also equipped with the Windows 8.1 operating system and a fourth Generation Intel Atom processor, offering faster tablet performance than its predecessor as well as battery life up to eight hours for video playback and up to 10 hours for web browsing.

The Windows 8.1 Iconia W4 is driven by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, and features a 16:10 ratio with 1280 x 800 pixel resolutions, a 2MP front camera supplemented by a 5MP rear camera with autofocus that supports 720p at 60FPS or 1080p 30FPS for photos or videos. The Zero Air Gap technology eliminates the spacing between the glass and IPS display, cutting down on glare and other artifacts.

The Acer Iconia W4 starts shipping this month in the United States. Manufacturer's suggested retail prices are $330 for the model with 32GB of storage, and $380 for the model with 64GB of storage. Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition 2013 is included with purchase.
