Rumors claim $399 Nexus 5, Nexus 4 LTE, Android KitKat on Friday

updated 05:18 am EDT, Wed October 16, 2013

Nexus 5 could possibly cost more than Nexus 4 with LTE

The next Google smartphone could start from $399, higher than the $299 price tag rumored earlier, according to a new report. The Nexus 5 will also allegedly be accompanied by a new version of the existing Nexus 4 which will offer LTE, with the entire range possibly appearing alongside Android KitKat on a new potential launch date on Friday 18th of October.

Sources of AndroidGeeks say that the Nexus 5 will be out in 16GB and 32GB variants, and will cost $399 and $449 respectively. The Nexus 4 LTE, rumored earlier this year, is said to have the same specifications as the existing model, except for the LTE connectivity, and will be available in 16GB and 32GB variants for $299 and $349 respectively.

The new launch date rumor from Android Community stems from a post on the official KitKat Google+ page. The message "Everybody dance now" is being suggested as a reference to a song of the same name by C+C Music Factory, which runs for 4 minutes 4 seconds and was originally released on October 18th, 1990. These connections, if tenuous, suggest a launch at the end of this week, rather than today as previously thought.
