Sony rumored planning A7 full-frame mirrorless Alpha camera launch

updated 07:28 pm EDT, Sun October 13, 2013

Low-resolution photo shows similar body to NEX-7

Sony could be releasing a new full frame mirrorless camera in its Alpha range later this week, according to a rumor. The A7, partly shown in a low-resolution image, appears to have a similar basic body as the NEX-7, though it appears to have a raised section for a more central and higher viewfinder, along with a raised hot shoe.

Sources of Sony Alpha Rumors suggest that it will be available in 24-megapixel and 36-megapixel versions, with the larger gaining the "r" suffix to the name. Construction-wise, it is said to be "built like a tank" and that it is a game-changing camera, though what exactly that means is not reported.

The launch is expected to take place on October 16th, with its price suggested to be somewhere in the region of $1,900 to $2,400, and with options to buy either the body alone or with a 28-70mm lens.

I sure hope the lens size was meant to be 20-70 mm, and not 20-700 mm as stated.
