LG tablet with 1920x1700, 8.3-inch display released in home country

LG has put its G Pad 8.3 on sale in South Korea, ahead of its release to the rest of the world. The G Pad 8.3, launched early last month, sports a better-than 1080p 1920x1200 WUXGA display powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.

On the back of the 338-gram (11-ounce) tablet is a 5-megapixel camera, matched with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing version, with power supplied by a 4,600mAh battery, Wi-Fi, and Miracast support. LG takes advantage of the large display by adding Slide Aside, which switches between open apps with a three-finger swipe, and Qslide for up to three different apps to run simultaneously. Qmemo and KnockON also make an appearance, as does Android 4.2.2, though Pocket-Lint writes that it should in theory get Android 4.3 in the near future in order to use Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

Available in black and white versions, the LG G Pad 8.3 costs 550,000 won ($513), and will be reaching North America and Europe in the coming weeks.
