New leak reveals Nexus 5 specs

The Nexus 5 specifications that previously leakedappear to have been largely correct, as a service manual for the device leaked to the Internet over the weekend. The forthcoming Nexus handset from LG was exhaustively described in a 281-page draft service manual discovered by Android Police. The veracity of the manual seems almost certain, as LG soon asked the Android fan blog to take the document down soon after it was posted. Other copies of the document have since shown up online.

The next Nexus device will reportedly sport a 4.95-inch 1080p display with IPS and TFT technology, as well as 2GB of RAM and a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor. The manual says the device will be available both in 16GB and 32GB configurations, with an 8MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front camera.

In addition to those features, the device will have Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, near-field communications capabilities, and built-in wireless charging. In terms of form factor, the Nexus 5 is said to be the same size as the Nexus 4.

Details on the Nexus 5 have continually leaked to the Internet, and the device is expected to be unveiled at a Nexus media event some time this month. Pricing and availability are as yet unknown, but it is possible that Google will offer it much in the same way it did the Nexus 4: unlocked and available through the Google Play Store. That device sold out quickly after its release, though subsequent reports held that that was due to equal parts low supply and high demand.
