Samsung's HomeSync media platform priced at $300

Samsung Mobile has announced the US-wide launch of its media centre platform, HomeSync. Consumers can use their Galaxy smartphone or tablet to control entertainment choices on their TV, as well as upload and download mobile content using its 1TB secure storage. Originally unveiled in February, the $300 device is set to be available across the US beginning October 6, 2013.

Petcube gadget provides long distance interaction with one's pet

The San Francisco startup Petcube has successfully reached its $100,000 Kickstarter goal in one week. Intended to provide pet owners with the ability to monitor and interact with their pet remotely, users of Petcube can connect to the device using one's home Wi-Fi network. Users can view their pet with its built-in wide angle camera, and have a 'conversation' using its speakers and microphone. A controllable laser pointer, attached to an internal moveable platform, allows for further play and exercise with a pet when not at home.

Petcube is 4 x 4 x 4 inch box, accompanied by hooks for various mounting options. Encased in aluminum, its front panel is glass, protecting its HD resolution camera. Petcube is powered with a mini-USB power adapter, and possesses a notification LED light. Expected to retail for $200 upon its 2014 release, Kickstarter backers can pre-order Petcube for $150. Other pledge levels remain available, and pledges will be received until November 5, 2013.
