Undercover 5.5 designed for OS X Mavericks
Orbicule, a producer of OS X and iOS software, has announced its release of version 5.5 of Undercover to be compatible with the yet-to-be-released OS X Mavericks. The first theft recovery software to take 'mugshots' using the built-in iSight camera and make screen captures when a Mac is being stolen, the latest version of the program is capable of tracking a stolen Mac in real time. Its web interface allows users to instantly capture and view photos remotely, with the intent of identifying the person who has stolen the computer. Screenshots and location information can be monitored in real-time. Keylogging is also included, which documents anything typed and can indicate personal information about the thief.
Also featured in the latest update to Undercover is the introduction of Debriefings, a feature that provides monthly notifications to inform the user about the protection status of their Mac, and includes tips on how to increase one's recovery chances in the event of theft. Version 5.5 is a free upgrade to existing Undercover 5 users, and older versions can be upgraded for $20. New users can purchase an account for one Mac for $50, and a license for up to five Macs for $60. Student pricing is available at $40.
