Google Nexus 10 spotted in inventory system, future Nexus 7 changes?

updated 04:33 pm EDT, Thu October 3, 2013

Asus-made Nexus 10 shown in retailer's stock system

Google could be planning to launch an updated Nexus 10 tablet in the coming weeks, according to a leaked store inventory screenshot. The claimed image from a retailer's inventory system arrives at the same time as another rumor suggesting a change of manufacturer for the Nexus 7 tablet could also be on the cards for next year.

The screenshot from the store, shown by the @evleaks Twitter account, gives little away about the tablet itself. Aside from the Nexus 10 name and a basic description of the device, the photograph does state that it is being built by Asus, rather than Samsung. This also tallies with an earlier rumor stating the same thing, and that it will have a 16GB model with Wi-Fi. The appearance of the device in a store's inventory system could also just be that it expects the release of a revised Nexus 10 sometime soon, even without any confirmation from Google, with the extra descriptive details just being temporary filler.

As for the Nexus 7, sources of Digitimes mention that Asus may lose the tablet to another hardware producer, and it is working hard to offer similar products that could fill the void if it does happen. In July, an analyst also suggested that the company would switch away from Asus for the 2014 model, with Google's successful Nexus 4 making a partnership with LG for the Nexus 7 even more likely.
