New models boosted with Haswell, improved battery life, better video

In addition to today's reveal of the new Dell Venue tablets, Dell is introducing new XPS laptops, each with enhanced displays over previous models. Released today are the new XPS 11 2-in-1 tablet convertible device, and a refreshed XPS 15 multimedia laptop. Dell is also upgrading its XPS 13 Ultrabook with faster processors, touch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display and improved battery life.

Starting at 2.5lbs and between 11 and 15mm thick, the new hybrid offers a tablet-first design with laptop functionality. The new model easily transitions from tablet to laptop with a 360 degree rotating hinge design, and a solid surface backlit touch keyboard. The Quad HD (2560 x 1440) display features True Color viewing powered by eeColor, enhancing color performance in any lighting condition.

The upgraded XPS 15 features a Quad HD+ display, and also available with a touch option, boasting over 5.7 million pixels. The XPS 15 packs fourth generation Intel Haswell Core i5 and i7 quad core processor options with NVIDIA discrete graphics options. Dell claims that Every XPS 15 boots and resumes within seconds with hard drive configuration options from 500GB to 1TB, both with a 32GB mSATA SSD, to a 512GB solid state drive, all with Intel Rapid Start Technology.

The refresh of the XPS 13 adds fourth generation Intel Haswell processors, Intel HD 4400 graphics, and boasts the attendant battery life increases as a result of the new processor.

The new XPS 15 revision is available on October 18 for $1,500. The XPS 11 and XPS 13 with touch will ship in November for $1,000 for either model.
