Apple has quietly updated Germany Apple TVs with access to the official NHL and Vevo apps, reports say. The Vevo app a relatively recent addition to the Apple TV platform, having debuted in the US in August. The NHL app, though, dates back to 2011, and has already reached a number of other countries, making its German introduction unusually late.

During the past several months Apple has added a large number of new apps to the Apple TV, and updated firmware to v6.0. Rumors have suggested that the company is planning to update the set-top's hardware this month, but any specifics have remained quiet. The unit could get access to HDMI 2.0, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and a faster processor.
