German Apple TV users gain access to NHL, Vevo apps

Apple has quietly updated Germany Apple TVs with access to the official NHL and Vevo apps, reports say. The Vevo app a relatively recent addition to the Apple TV platform, having debuted in the US in August. The NHL app, though, dates back to 2011, and has already reached a number of other countries, making its German introduction unusually late.

During the past several months Apple has added a large number of new apps to the Apple TV, and updated firmware to v6.0. Rumors have suggested that the company is planning to update the set-top's hardware this month, but any specifics have remained quiet. The unit could get access to HDMI 2.0, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and a faster processor.
