Apple resumes offering in-store pickups of online iPhone 5s orders

updated 10:23 am EDT, Mon September 30, 2013

Could hint at stabilizing supplies

Apple is once again allowing Personal Pickups for online orders of the iPhone 5s, checks show. The company halted pickups of the phone early last week without explanation. Even with the option returned, many stores are listing the device as unavailable for pickup, although some locations should have stock.

The resumption of the option may suggest that 5s inventory is beginning to stabilize. Delivered online orders are only listed as shipping in "October" in the US, but retail Apple Stores should be getting regular resupplies. Apple places a high value on people being able to walk into a store and pick up a product, presumably since it would otherwise disappoint and/or discourage some prospective buyers.
