Performances from Elton John, Lady Gaga, Sigur Ros, Avicii, more
On Friday, Apple posted a short video to its YouTube channel showing off some of the highlights of the month-long iTunes Festival in London, which is drawing to a close on Monday. To a soundtrack by Sigur Ros, attendees, performances and artists alike are showcased in the just over minute-long video -- entitled "Moments" -- that ends with the tagline "60 great artists. 30 amazing nights. Live and free on iTunes."
The annual concert takes over London's Roundhouse venue for the entire month of September, and features two different concerts per evening -- with attendees determined by ticket lottery, as all tickets are free of charge. Those who can't attend the event can watch many of the performances in HD on their iOS mobile devices, on their Mac or Windows computer through iTunes, or on a dedicated channel on Apple TV -- either live or for later playback for a limited time. A companion iOS app also allows users to pull up biographical information, a calendar of events and buy music from the artists through iTunes.
The video serves to remind viewers that the concert series is created and run by Apple, and available only to users of iTunes on Windows, iOS or Mac. Videos or albums of the concerts are only available to purchase through iTunes as well, and are not released elsewhere.
Yet to perform in this year's festival are Justin Timberlake, John Legend, Tamar Braxton, and Mikky Ekko. The series will conclude on Monday with headliner Katy Perry along with Iggy Azalea and Icona Pop.
