Realmac reverses course on merging iPhone, iPad versions of Clear

99-cent iPhone version to remain available

The original iPhone-only version of Clear will remain on sale and get future updates, developer Realmac Software has announced. With the advent of iOS 7, the company decided to replace it with a new, universal version of its popular to-do app, capable of running on the iPad as well. The universal app costs $5, though, instead of 99 cents, something that prompted frustration from people who would've been expected to pay more to stay supported.

Realmac says it has already submitted an enhanced iPhone app carrying over features from the universal title. These are iOS 7-focused, including new list themes. The universal app has meanwhile been renamed "Clear+," to avoid any confusion.

Clear uses an unusually minimalist, color-coded design, with few buttons or menus. Navigation is instead mostly gesture-based. On top of the iOS editions, Realmac also sells one for the Mac.
