Quad-core processor, improved display for gaming tablet

A follow-up to a gaming tablet by Archos is getting a sequel, according to a recently-pulled listing on retailer HKTDC's website. The Archos GamePad 2 will have the same physical size as its predecessor, complete with game controls mounted on the sides, with the internal specifications and display receiving a expected upgrade.

The new version will use a 1.6GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 8GB or 16GB of expandable internal storage, reports Liliputing. This is up from the dual-core Cortex A9 processor running at 1.6GHz with 1GB of RAM and just 8GB of storage in the first version. The display is improved from the original's 1024x600 to 1280x800, but keeps the same seven-inch size, and though the game controller sections have received slight design tweaks, they remain largely the same as before. Camera and battery details remain unknown, but should beat the 2-megapixel and 1.2-megapixel cameras in the original.

Retail pricing was not revealed by the retailer, but since the first GamePad sold for $180, the GamePad 2 could sell for a similar value, if not $200.
