Google updates Android Device Manager with remote locking

Google has updated its Android Device Manager to allow for remote locking of mobile devices. The online dashboard not only blocks access to anyone that doesn't know the password, but also gives the option to set a new password, according to Android Police. The new password will override whatever is being used on the phone or tablet, and will be required to unlock it. Devices in Airplane mode will receive the lock command and password changes once it reconnects to a network.

CyanogenMod adds device location, remote wiping to latest build

The latest build of CyanogenMod includes similar functionality to Android Device Manager. The CM Account system adds device location and remote wiping functions to the Android ROM, reports Engadget. CyanogenMod 10.1.3 is also said to be the last of the Android 4.2 builds, with version 10.2 onwards set to be built on top of Android 4.3.
