Kogan breaks through the $200 barrier for a quad-core, 720p mobile
Australian online electronics retailer Kogan has launched a budget quad-core smartphone for $190. The device centers on a 5-inch 720p IPS display and is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz matched with 1GB of RAM. It will ship with Android 4.2.2 out of the box and is currently up for pre-order and due to ship from October 3.
The Kogan Agora smartphone supports 3G networks operating on the 850, 1900 and 2100mHz bands at HSDPA speeds, ships unlocked and also supports dual-SIM cards. It packs an 8-megapixel rear camera with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.
Connectivity includes support for 802.11n, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0. On board storage has been limited to 4GB to help keep costs down, although this is expandable with a microSD card. The device includes a 2000mAh battery and weighs in at 153 grams.
