Tablet renamed from Tegra Tab

Nvidia has formally unveiled the Tegra Note, a new seven-inch tablet platform that had been previewed under the name Tegra Tab. As expected, the device is powered by the company's Tegra 4 SoC with a quad-core Cortex-A15 processor and a 72-core GeForce GPU.

The reference device is claimed to be the "world's fastest seven-inch tablet," integrating a 1280x800 touchscreen with an HDMI output for connecting larger displays when gaming. It also works with Nvidia's DirectStylus, which is claimed to have a finer point and broader stroke control than a basic stylus.

The tablet is said to run the "latest version" of Android, with over-the-air updates to be released directly by Nvidia, though the company has yet to detail any of its own software tweaks aside from TegraZone gaming.

Various editions are expected to arrive in the next few months from EVGA and PNY in North America, while other variants branded by Oysters, Zotac, Colorful, Gigabyte, Shenzhen and XOLO will be headed to other markets.
