Adobe promises to deliver Mighty pen, Napoleon ruler tools for iPad

updated 05:25 pm EDT, Tue September 17, 2013

Launch slated for 2014

Adobe has confirmed that its Project Mighty digital stylus and Project Napoleon ruler tool are set to arrive on the market in the first half of 2014. First introduced at the company's MAX conference last May as a product concept for further consideration, the Adonit accessories are specifically geared for the current range of Creative Cloud mobile apps available on the iPad and iPhone.

Project Mighty is similar to Wacom's popular tools, with a tool-selector button and a pressure-sensitive nib that can be set to adjust line width or other parameters. Creative Cloud integration enables brushes and colors to be easily carried between platforms, along with copy and paste across devices.

Project Napoleon serves as a ruler, extending straight or curved guidelines that can be traced across the tablet interface with the Mighty stylus. Adobe has created a drafting app, Project Parallel, along with a Kuler-like object sketching app, known as Project Contour, that are designed to take advantage of both wireless tools.

Adobe has yet to announce pricing details or a specific launch date for Project Mighty, Project Napoleon or the new iPad apps.
