China still holding at no later than September 21st
Shipping times for several more iPhone 5c models have slipped in the US, checks of Apple's online store show. Last Friday, delays began to affect some yellow 16GB and 32GB units. Now a red, unlocked, 16GB 5c can only be delivered by September 25th, and its blue and green counterparts must wait until October 4th. Delays on Apple's Chinese site, meanwhile, have extended to "no later than September 21."
The details suggest that the 5c is proving popular, even though the device is essentially a cheaper, repackaged iPhone 5 with a plastic back and a slightly better battery. How the 5s will do remains to be seen. Apple isn't accepting any pre-orders for the phone, which means that first- and third-party outlets will likely be hit with a crush on September 20th, regardless of how popular the hardware proves afterward.
