Philips teams with DJ Armin van Burren on M1X-DJ System for iOS devices

Philips has teamed with DJ Armin van Buuren to launch the M1X-DJ System for Apple's iPad and iPhone. The audio dock integrates a Lightning connector, but also supports connectivity over a Bluetooth connection. It has also been designed to work seamlessly with the djay 2 app from Algoriddim allowing users to switch between tracks or mix tracks together.

mixing themselves," said Armin van Buuren. "A lot of kit can be expensive, so with the M1X I wanted to create something that's accessible for everybody. The other great thing about the M1X is that you can play it wherever you want, whether that's the beach, the park or your street: it's the ghettoblaster reinvented for today."

The Philips M1X-DJ System incorporates two professional grade platters, cross-faders and controls. It also integrates multiple inputs and outputs allowing users to link up multiple M1X-DJ Systems or bigger sound systems to create a more club-like sound. It will last for up to five hours running on eight D cell batteries. It also comes with carrying straps and features a reversible control panel. The four built-in speakers include a full range woofer and tweeter with a maximum output of 80W RMS.

It will retail for around $400 when it hits the market in November.
