New case uses compression lock to form waterproof seal
Protective case manufacturer LifeProof has announced the availability of nuud for Apple iPad mini, the first waterproof, all-protective Apple iPad mini case without a screen cover. The nuud provides trusted LifeProof protection against water, drops, dirt, and snow in a slim design, while still allowing full touchscreen use.
LifeProof's Screenless Technology uses a compression lock system that forms a waterproof seal between the case and the device touch screen and delivers complete protection while maintaining clarity and touch. The first of its kind, the LifeProof nuud case is screen-free, yet is still waterproof -- with an IP68 rating for submerging 6.6 feet underwater for one hour. The case is also built to survive a four foot drop, and exceeds military specifications for shock, drop and vibration protection.
The LifeProof nuud case for iPad mini is available in black or white/gray, and is designed with a tethered headphone jack cover. LifeProof nuud for iPad mini is available for $120. A portfolio cover that works in tandem with the nuud is available now in black and gray for $40. Accessories to be available soon include a floating LifeJacket in orange or olive drab green for $60, and a mounting cradle for $50.
