Briefly: Xiaomi intros MiTV with AirPlay, StackSocial Mac App Bundle

updated 04:04 pm EDT, Thu September 5, 2013

MiTV with AirPlay announced

Xiaomi earlier today showed off a new Smart TV that claims to feature built-in AirPlay support. The MiTV, like other Xiaomi products, is powered by Android and runs the MIUI Android interface for TV screens. It is unclear if the Apple has official licensed AirPlay for the TV, or if it is merely some sort of hack. Fitted with a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, the MiTV has not yet received a launch date, but will carry a $490 price tag.

StackSocial lets customers pay what they want for 10 Mac app

StackSocial has launched a new bundle of Mac apps that gives users the option to name their own price. The bundle features 10 apps in total, including Camtasia 2, RaySupreme, and Lucid, with a total value of $412. Customers can pick any price they want, but must pay more than the average price to receive all 10 apps. Any payments under the average will entitle users to Airy, My LIving Desktop, & Compartments. In addition, customers also get to choose one of three charities, Child's Play, World Wildlife Fund, and Creative Commons, to which 10 percent of their purchase will be donated too.

Apple doesn't license AirPlay, so it's a hack. If they did, I doubt this would be the first TV we'd hear about having the feature.
