Slight change in build number suggests code almost complete
Apple is seeding another beta build of OS X 10.8.5 to developers. The release is listed as build 12F36, just one number removed from a version rumored to have been distributed to Apple partners. That may hint that v10.8.5 is almost finished, and could be distributed to the public as soon as next week, if not earlier.
The patch should represent the last major update for Mountain Lion. Apple is on the verge of launching OS X Mavericks, and the company typically shifts most of its resources away from old operating systems once a new one is available. It may even be in the early planning stages for Mavericks' successor, since OS X has switched to an annual update cycle.
