Google pulls Android KitKat video over possible Nexus 5 leak

updated 07:33 am EDT, Wed September 4, 2013

Google employee seen using large Nexus smartphone in video

Google may have accidentally leaked the Nexus 5 in its promotional materials. A video revealing the new statue for Android 4.4, Android KitKat, showed what could be the next Nexus smartphone being used to take images, with Google not only removing the video it posted itself, but also those of others mirroring the video clip.

A still image of the leak, shown by 9To5Google, has the potential Nexus 5 being used next to a Nexus 4, and despite perspective differences, appears to be a much bigger handset. Unlike the Nexus branding on the back of the Nexus 4, the Nexus 5 has its rear text readable in landscape format, and appears to have a much larger glass covering for the camera sensor than the original.

Expected to launch sometime in October, the Nexus 5 is believed to have similar characteristics to the LG G2, suggesting it to have a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.26GHz, and LTE connectivity. After receiving a discount, stock of the 8GB Nexus 4 has run out on Google Play in the US, something which hints that the new model will be arriving sooner rather than later.
