Rumor: Nikon preparing D5300, D610 DSLR announcements

updated 08:42 pm EDT, Fri August 30, 2013

Updated DSLR models could have slight improvements

Nikon could be preparing to launch two new entry-level DSLR cameras in the future, according to a new rumor. The D5300 and D6100, said to be upgraded versions of earlier product lines, could in fact be part of a new company strategy to work on increasing consumer-grade device sales, rather than the claimed concept-changing secret projects the company president has talked about.

Though light on details, Nikon Rumors thinks that the D5300 would be a slight improvement on the D5200, launched late last year, with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and a GPS being suggested as part of the changes. The D610, also an updated version of the D600 that launched last September, is also speculated to be a minor upgrade in order to fix a sensor oil issue in the original, and could be the reason behind the heavily-discounted refurbished D600 units.

A potential launch date for both cameras is unknown, though more details could come to light closer to their launch anniversaries.

Bummer. So many things Nikon needs but not those two.

D5300? I thought they decided not to continue D5000 series.
