LG ramps up marketing efforts on G2 with new promo video
LG has published a new G2 promo video that highlights in some detail a number of the new functions and capabilities of its flagship Android-based superphone. The new video follows a publicity stunt released yesterday that sent the G2 into the stratosphere to capture video from the edge of space to highlight the capabilities of its 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization. The latest video suggests that LG is taking a much more aggressive tact with the marketing surrounding its new device, which is due to go on sale in the US
The specifications of the LG G2 have been well documented. It will be one of the first to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.26GHz chip with Adreno 330 graphics, while it also centers on a high-quality 5.2-inch 1080p IPS LCD display. The device also features extremely narrow bezels on the side of the display, helping to keep its larger display manageable in the hand. However, while the specs are well known, the video also highlights a number of the software enhancements to its Android basis that LG has made, helping to differentiate it from its competitors.
Among the features highlighted in the clip is a motion-sensing function called 'KnockON' that wakes the device from sleep when tapped. A 'Guest Mode' allows others to access the device for user-defined functions, while keeping guests out of other functions maintaining privacy. A new feature called 'Audio Zoom' lets users zoom in on a particular person that they are video recording, with the audio also zeroing in on that person too. Also getting special attention is the unique power and volume layout on the device that is based at the center rear of the G2, making it equally suitable for both left and right-handed users.
