LG G Pad set to for IFA reveal, 8.3-inch 1920x1200 display, quad-core

LG has teased its forthcoming G Pad 8.3 officially for the first time ahead of IFA Berlin. In a new video published on its YouTube channel, the Korean company confirms the name and dimensions of the new tablet, as previously rumored, although it does not actually reveal it. The company had previously stated that its flagship products will carry the 'G' branding, while the tablet itself is expected to 'pocketable', while also featuring a high-resolution (rumored to be 1920x1200 pixels), which is what the subjects in the video say they want in a tablet.

Unlike its Korean archrival Samsung that has released a plethora of tablet devices, LG has only previously released one tablet, the 8.9-inch Optimus Pad in 2011. However, it has had made significant inroads in the smartphone space over the past twelve months with the high-profile Optimus G handset, and the Google Nexus 4 smartphone. It recently revealed its Optimus G sequel dubbed the G2, which centers on a large 5.2-inch display fitted with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz.

The new G Pad 8.3 is also expected to be powered by the same chipset and is rumored to be both very thin and light. It is also said to include aluminium in its construction, and like the G2, feature a very thin bezel that will help it fit into a jacket or jeans pocket despite the relatively large display size. It is also expected that the tablet will rely entirely on touch input, rather than include any type of stylus, which has been LG's preferred method of input, even with its Galaxy Note II competitor, the 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro.
